Welcome to RCMS from Mr. Hunnicutt
Dear Rabun County Middle School Families,
It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the new principal of Rabun County Middle School. My name is Brian Hunnicutt, and I am truly honored to serve the students, families, and staff of RCMS.
Returning to Rabun County Middle School is especially meaningful to me because this community has shaped so much of who I am. I am a proud graduate of Rabun County Schools, and I also had the privilege of teaching here at RCMS earlier in my career. Having the opportunity to return as principal is both humbling and exciting. This is home. To have the opportunity to serve the students, families, and community that invested in me is a tremendous blessing and a responsibility I do not take lightly. Rabun County has given so much to me throughout my life, and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to give back by serving the students and families of this community.
Over the past six weeks, I have had the opportunity to reconnect with many of our teachers, staff members, district leaders, parents, and students. While I've always known Rabun County to be a special place, these past several weeks have only reaffirmed what I've believed for many years. The pride this community has in its schools, the dedication of our educators, and the support of our families are evident in every conversation. I am grateful for the warm welcome my family and I have received, and I am excited to build upon the strong traditions that have made RCMS a school our community is proud to call its own.
Our commitment this year is captured in six simple words:
Our Best. Each Moment. Each Day.
These six words will guide everything we do. They remind us that excellence isn't achieved all at once—it is built one moment and one day at a time. At RCMS, we believe every student can grow, every teacher can make a difference, and every day is an opportunity to learn, encourage others, and become a little better than we were the day before. Great schools are built through strong partnerships between students, families, teachers, and the community. Together, we will continue building a school culture grounded in strong relationships, clear structure, meaningful rigor, joyful learning, and Wildcat pride.
This is an exciting time for Rabun County Middle School as our campus nears completion of a major renovation project. These improvements will provide outstanding learning spaces that will benefit our students for many years to come, and we are excited to welcome our Wildcats into these updated facilities. Our faculty and staff have been working diligently to prepare for an outstanding school year, and we look forward to welcoming students back very soon.
Thank you for your trust, your encouragement, and the opportunity to serve this wonderful community. I look forward to working alongside our students, families, faculty, staff, and community as we help every student reach their full potential. Together, we will make this a school year filled with learning, growth, achievement, and memorable experiences for every Wildcat.
Welcome back, Wildcats!
Our Best. Each Moment. Each Day.
Brian Hunnicutt
